Current Events QTR 2 Week 6: Arctic express rolls into Tampa Bay area

Today the tempature won't even rise to the 60"s. The rest of the week looks very similar to these conditions. A hard freeze warning for most of Florida. Places expecting these tempatures are  Brooksville, Spring Hill, New Port Richey, Zephyrhills, Brandon, Tampa, Lakeland, Winter Haven, Bradenton...Wauchula, Sebring, Avon Park and Arcadia. It looks like you'll have to start covering plants tonight.
I think that this is gonna be great! We need a good break from all this heat. But I hope that this year isn't as long or as cold as last. Everybody is covering up and pulling out their winter wear. This morning was freezing cold thank the lord for warm class rooms!

Current Events QTR 2 Week 5: New homeowner may have found body of previous owner in foreclosed home

A man in St. Petersburg Florida found the body of his house's previous owner. He found the remains inside a car in his garage. He had bought the foreclosed house not long before discovering the body. Major Andrew Walters said they don't know how long the body has been deceased or cause of death. The body is believed to a woman.
I think that this story is very creepy. I wouldn't want to go back to the house becuase there was a dead body there. I feel very bad for whoever this is and there family. The cops need to go throught a thorough search and find out how this person was killed. It could have been a murder! Youe don't know! I haven't seen this on the news yet but look forward to findig out more.

Current Events: QRT 2 Week 3: Twinkie Diet Helps Nutrition Professer Lose 27 Pounds

Have you ever heard of a Twinkie Diet? Professer Mark Haub went on a 2 month "Twinkie Diet" and lost 27 pounds! But his diet also consisted of Little Debbies, Doritos, Twinkies, sugary cereal, and Oreos. After 2 months his body mass index went from 28.8 to "over weight" to 24.9 "normal". Haubs bad cholesteral dropped 20% and his good cholersteral wentt up 20%. But Mark does not want anybody else to try this diet due to increase in cancer risks.
I think that this diet was true and very affective. But becuase all of the risks that you are taking you probally shouldn't try it. If these snacks are supossed to be unhealthy then they should not be put forward like this. I don't think that this diet was origanally planned to help your body but ended up helping more than he realized. You probally shouldn't promote this kind of eating seeing on how America is dealing with countless cases of childhood obesity.

Curent Event Qtr 2 Week : In Haiti, Cholera Could Heighten Earthquake Misery

Cholera is a disease that is usually marked by severe gastrointestinal symptoms. This disease has hit Hati like a freight train. Over 250 people already dead and 3,000 sickened out of the 1.3 million earthquake survivors. With very little clean water, food, bathrooms, hospital space, and shelter whats going to happen? Poor sanitation and other conditions may just spread the sickness faster.
I think that we need volunteers, missionary's, and Doctors should go there to try to help with the efforts. This is horrible considering that not long ago Hati was rocked with a horrible Earthquake. Meaning that there is little places that could be sanitary. This is a drop in the bucket, an opertunity to help others in need. We should take it! And help these poor people!!!!

Curent Event Qtr 2 week 1: Lakeland high school off lockdown after ammunition found

                                                      bullets

This article is about a Lakeland High School that found ammunition in there parking lot. A resource officer at Gorge Jenkins High School found found the bullets at 11:30 a.m. After interviewing students and searching the campus they finally lifted the lock down. The ammunition was not linked to any suspicious threats or warning. Nobody was hurt or killed in this incident.
I think that this may be a sign that Americas's schools are getting more voilent. This could have been much worse, but thankfully the resource officer found the ammuntion. Schools should "beef" up there sucuirty and stop these things from happening. We have seen loss and tragedy before in school shootings. Why should it happen again?

Current Event Week 6 Bangladesh seeks Chinese help to build deep seaport

The article says that the deap sea port has been in discussion for a couple years. The only bad thought is from India which is concerned about Chinese influence. The deap water sea port will be located near the southeastern island of Sonadia. The seaport will hopefully be the main shipping hub for northeastern India, China's Yunnan province, Myanmar and landlocked Nepal and Bhutan. What do you think about  the new seaport?
I thinl that it is great that Bangladesh will be interacting with China. The seaport will help land locked country's and pour country's. By providing some of these country's with one of the main shipping hubs for India, China's Yunnan province, Myanmar, and landlocked Nepal and Bhutan it will help there econimies! Here is the link for the newspaper so you can read it yourself: http://www.thebangladeshtoday.com/leading%20news.htm#lead news-01
What is your thoughts on the deep water seaport?

Genetically Engineered Salmon

You've heard about genetics right. Everybody has them but you don't think of them as food. The FDA is thinking of approving genetically alterd Samon as food. They believe that the new fish will give us more to eat and help the fishing industry. The Samon is twice as big and grows twice as fast. Would you eat these fish? Are they safe? These are questions that come to my mind. I don't think that they soould be changing the size or normal growth on Samon becuase it's not natrual. By doing this they are changing the envorment. Humans don't need to alteer the natrual envorment like this. It's not normal, we have ruined the world enough. But sadly we will be repeating the process of destroying our planet anyway. You may be thinking " They are just fish who cares?" But by making them bigger you are also feeding bears and other animals these genes too. What if the genes cause bears to double in size and growth? I don't know not everyone has the same oppinion, whats yours?

Dean McDermott become a U.S. citizen

Dean McDermott is from Toranto, Canada. He became a U.S Citizen last Friday, this reality T.V. star said it was an amazing experiance. His wife Tori Spelling was there right beside him the whole time showing her support. Dean commented that standing under a huge American flag and saying the pledge was very moving. Bytaking this oath Dean is now a legal citizen of America, Go Dean!

I think that movie stars like Dean McDermott going through the natrualization test really impresses younger people. Everyone who wants to become a U.S. citizen should do it and be proud. America is like a salad bowl lets add more to it! By becoming a U.S. citizen helps our economy. If you only knew how many people come from other countrys and take jobs that Americans need. If those people become a citizen then they wouldnt be taking too much.

BP1:CE: The Disater in the Gulf

Everybody has heard about the Oil Spill in the Gulf of Mexico. It's in the new's and all over the internet. Who could miss it? I read a article that talks about the expenses and  that Spill has created. Billons of dollars are going to be spent just on cleaning the surface of the water. The article also states that BP has promised 20 billion dollars towards the cleanup. Do you think it's enough?

I think that it will take more than 1 year to clean up this mess. The Oil Spill in the Gulf is not just killing birds but also fish and plants like coral and seaweed. My Dad is a Captian of the Miss Rosa Marie one of the many boats helping clean oil out of the Gulf. He tells my family and i a lot about whats going on. The spill is not only large but dangeroes for wildlife too. It has killed 60,000 birds, and much more. The effects this spill is leaving on the Gulf is huge. I believe that kids like me and you can do more to help to. We could collect used towels and Dawn soap dertergiant, we could help hundreds of birds. The Spill has effected hundreds of fisher's live's, has it effected your's?
